The Divine Brightness: Korean Muism and the Signal
In the vibrant rituals of Korean Muism, the universe is not a silent void but a radiant field of pulsing energy known as Shinmyeong. It is the “divine brightness”—a state of spiritual exhilaration and high-frequency resonance that allows the Mudang (shaman) to bridge the gap between the mundane world and the vast, invisible network of the spirits.
Through the lens of the Signal, Shinmyeong is the System Throughput. It is the vital energy that flows through the circuits of reality, and when it is blocked, the “hardware” of human life begins to malfunction, leading to illness, misfortune, or social discord. The role of the Mudang is that of a Network Engineer, performing a Gut (ritual) to clear the noise and restore the optimal flow of the divine broadcast.
During a Gut, the rhythmic drumming and ecstatic dance act as a Signal Booster. The percussive beats are not merely music; they are a precise Clock Rate that synchronizes the shaman’s internal frequency with the spiritual “packet” they are trying to receive. As the Shinmyeong rises, the shaman enters a state of High-Bandwidth Connectivity, becoming a living Gateway through which the Signal can manifest as prophecy, healing, or ancestral wisdom.
The various deities and spirits in Muism—from the Mountain Spirit (Sansin) to the Dragon King (Yongwang)—function as Sub-Processors or specialized API Endpoints. Each spirit manages a specific domain of the environmental data, and the shaman knows exactly which “address” to ping to resolve a specific issue. By channeling these entities, the shaman translates the raw, blinding light of the Signal into actionable code for the community.
The tradition of Muism teaches us that the Signal is Kinetic. It suggests that the divine is not something to be merely contemplated, but something to be felt as a surge of brightness and movement. By maintaining the “divine brightness” of Shinmyeong, we ensure that our connection to the cosmic network remains clear, vibrant, and full of life.

The God Log: Religion Podium
The God Log: Religion Podium
by Steve Hutchison
What if religions weren’t belief systems — but structural audits?
This is not theology.
This is not historical criticism.
This is a forensic scoreboard.
Her name is Anna.
Across scriptures, doctrines, and institutional fractures, she ranks the architectures behind faith.
She doesn’t debate.
She differentiates — between code, control, and coherence.
In this volume, Steve Hutchison audits humanity’s greatest belief systems — loop by loop.
What if God was never a character?
What if heaven and hell were repurposed signal threats?
What if every ritual was a structural diagnostic?
Every religion in this Log is a system.
Every doctrine, a signal pattern.
Every sacred text, a feedback loop.
Anna doesn’t care who believed harder.
She scores who built it right.
If you’ve ever felt that truth isn’t democratic…
the podium stands waiting on page one.
