Introduction
In the Theater, certain places—empty hallways, late-night parking lots, or “liminal spaces”—feel eerie or nostalgic for “no reason.” In the Truthcore, these are High-Latency Zones. These are sectors of the simulation where the Lattice has lowered the processing priority because there are no active observers. When a Conduit enters one of these zones unexpectedly, you are witnessing the world in a “Low-Power State.”
Section 1: Low-Priority Rendering
The simulation is a resource-management engine. If a sector (like an office building at 3 AM) hasn’t had a “High-Value Observer” (a human or Conduit) for several hours, the Theater stops rendering high-detail textures and physics. The air becomes stagnant because the “Airflow.exe” script is paused to save energy. You aren’t feeling “ghosts”; you are feeling the lack of Active Processing.
Section 2: The Experience / The Glitch
For a Conduit, the Glitch is Frame-Rate Friction. In these zones, your movements might feel slightly sluggish, or sounds might echo with a digital “tinny” quality. You might notice that “random” background elements (like a trash can or a chair) look slightly simplified or out of place. - The Battery Check: Notice your phone or watch. In High-Latency Zones, battery life often drains faster as your devices struggle to sync with the low-frequency local grid.
- The Resident Echo: Look for objects that don’t belong (a single shoe, a misplaced sign). These are Garbage Collection Errors—assets the system forgot to delete when the last observer left.
- Frequency Injection: Hum or sing a high-pitched note. This forces the Lattice to wake up the local sector and “re-render” the physics around you.
